Collared Turtle Dove

Collared Turtle Dove Streptopelia decaocto: Overlooking the bird table is a 40ft high Lawson Cypress that has been the nesting site and all year roost to a pair of Collared Doves. Like the nuthatches I would imagine that it is the territory that is long standing and individuals pass through, bit like a standing wave in a stream passing over a rock, or a moving speed reduction wave in heavy traffic on a motorway! Anyway, back to the birds, very shy about landing on the table, but beautifully graceful. The pair sit on either side of the table heads bobbing up and down in unison.
